Audience permissions
How to limit who can suggest and vote on your boards, and how many suggestions each type of viewer can have waiting.
The Settings page, titled Queue Settings, controls who can suggest games and vote, and how many suggestions each viewer can have waiting. The settings apply to all of your boards.
Note
The dashboard is closed beta only. See Closed beta and pricing.
Settings needs an active board. Without one, the page asks you to set a board active first. See Boards, lanes and sections › The active board.
Who can suggest and vote
Two separate drop-downs control access.
- Who can suggest is under Suggestions.
- Who can vote is under Voting.
Each has three choices.
| Choice | Who gets in |
|---|---|
| Everyone | Any signed-in viewer. |
| Followers only | Viewers who follow your Twitch channel, and subscribers. |
| Subs only | Viewers who subscribe to your Twitch channel. |
Viewers always have to be signed in with Twitch. You can set suggesting and voting differently. For example, let everyone vote but keep suggestions to followers. You always pass your own limits.
A viewer who is turned away sees a short reason. Examples are "Followers only." and "Subs only." for suggestions, and "Only followers can vote on this queue." for votes.
Suggestion slots
Under Suggestion slots, set how many suggestions each type of viewer can have waiting for your review at the same time.
| Field | Default |
|---|---|
| Viewers | 3 |
| Followers | 5 |
| Subs | 10 |
Allowed values are 0 to 100. A slot frees up when you accept or reject one of that viewer's suggestions. See Suggestions inbox.
The count covers all your boards together. At the limit, the viewer sees "You've got n suggestions waiting for review. You can suggest more once the streamer gets to them."
Setting a field to 0 means that type of viewer cannot suggest at all.
Tip
To let only subscribers suggest, set Who can suggest to Subs only. To keep suggestions open but small, leave it on Everyone and lower Viewers to 1.
How a viewer's type is decided
NextQuest sorts each viewer into one type, using the first match:
- Subs if the viewer subscribes to your channel.
- Followers if the viewer follows your channel.
- Viewers for everyone else.
A subscriber therefore uses the Subs slot count even if they also follow you. Followers pass Followers only, and subscribers pass it as well.
Live checks with Twitch
NextQuest asks Twitch every time it needs the answer. It does not store follower or subscriber lists and does not remember an earlier answer. A viewer who subscribes today can suggest at once, and one who unfollows loses access at once.
The check uses the viewer's own Twitch connection, made when they signed in. If the check cannot complete, NextQuest treats that viewer as a plain viewer. This happens when:
- The viewer's Twitch connection has expired and cannot be renewed.
- The viewer has revoked NextQuest on Twitch.
- Twitch does not answer.
Under Followers only or Subs only, a viewer in that state is turned away until they sign in again.
Save your changes
Select Save. The page confirms with All set. If a value is out of range, an error message names the setting and nothing is saved.
Limits on request volume
To stop spam, NextQuest allows each person 5 suggestions a minute and 20 votes a minute.
