Game and company pages

What the facts on a game page and a company page mean, and why a game can be missing, return a 404, or show as Unavailable.

Every game on NextQuest has a page at /game/{slug}. Every company has one at /company/{slug}. You reach them from board cards, search results, the home page, and links on other game pages. You do not need an account.

Note

To suggest a game from its page, sign in, open the action button and select Suggest to a favourite. It sends the game to a streamer you favourited. See Favourite streamers › Suggest a game from its page. You can always suggest from a streamer's board too. See Suggesting a game.

The game page

A game page opens with the cover and title. A small badge under the cover shows the type when the game is not a main game, for example DLC or Remake. Below that is a table of facts.

Row What it shows
A parent row Only when the game builds on another game that has a page. The label varies: DLC for, Expansion for, Remake of, Remaster of, Port of, and similar.
Genres Genre badges.
Platforms Platforms, separated by dots.
Release One line per platform with a date. See below.
Credits Companies behind the game. Each links to its company page.
On your favourites' boards Signed in only: where the game sits on the boards of streamers you favourited. See below.

A row with no data shows a dash. The favourites row is left out entirely when it has nothing to show. Below the table come About, then Screenshots and Trailers when they exist. Select a screenshot to enlarge it. A trailer opens on YouTube in a new tab.

Release dates

Each release line shows a platform, a date, and sometimes a small marker that says how precise the date is.

Marker Meaning
Exact A full day is known.
Month only Only the month is known.
Quarter only Only the quarter is known.
Year only Only the year is known.
No date yet The date is to be announced.

A line without a marker shows a plain date with no precision information.

Not out yet

If the earliest dated release on file is in the future, the page shows Not out, the date, and a countdown in days, hours, minutes, and seconds. If the launch is more than 999 days away, it shows days away instead.

A game with only No date yet rows, or no release rows at all, is not counted as unreleased. It shows no countdown.

Board status

The On your favourites' boards row lists the streamers you favourited who have this game on their public board right now. Each entry shows the streamer, the section name, and the net votes, sorted by streamer name. Select it to open the board.

The row only shows when you are signed in and at least one favourite has the game. It only counts active public boards and sections visible to the public. To favourite a streamer, see Favourite streamers.

The company page

A company page shows the logo, the name, and how many games credit the company. If there is no logo, it shows initials.

  • Games appear as cover cards, newest release first, so unreleased games sit at the top. Games with no date come last.
  • A Not yet badge marks unreleased games.
  • Each card shows the release year and the company's roles on that game: Developer, Publisher, Porting, or Supporting. One company can hold several roles on one game.
  • The page lists games in the NextQuest catalogue only. It is not a full list of everything a company has made.
  • With no credited games, the page reads Nothing credits this company yet.

Where this data comes from

Game and company facts come from the catalogue, a complete local copy of IGDB game and company records. NextQuest pages never call IGDB while you look at them.

  • Changes arrive fast. IGDB notifies NextQuest when a game or company changes. An update usually shows within about 60 seconds of that notice.
  • A nightly check repairs the rest. Every night at 04:00 UTC, NextQuest compares the whole catalogue with IGDB. It fixes changes that were missed or arrived out of order.
  • Removed records are marked, not erased. When IGDB drops a game or company, NextQuest marks the record as removed. This is called a tombstone.

Why a game is missing

If a game does not turn up, match what you see to a row in this table.

What you see Why
The game is not in search IGDB may not list it yet, or it was added in the last few minutes. Search also leaves out bundles, packs, updates, and version entries such as separate editions. Check the spelling.
The page shows Nothing's here. (404) The slug is wrong, the game was never in IGDB, or the game was removed and its record tombstoned. Removed games do not keep a page.
A board card shows Unavailable The game was removed from the catalogue after it joined the board. The card stays, keeps its votes, and has no link and no vote buttons. See Voting › Unavailable games.
The game is missing from the home page Home blocks skip bundles, packs, updates, version entries, and adult-tagged games.
A company chip has no link The company has no page, or it was removed. Its name stays as plain text.
You cannot suggest the game The catalogue marks it as removed. See Suggesting a game › Refusal messages.

A tombstoned game can come back if IGDB lists it again. Pending suggestions for it are still there, and streamers can accept them once it is back.

If a game is still missing a day after it appeared on IGDB, see Troubleshooting.
