Sign in with Twitch

What NextQuest asks Twitch for when you sign in, how long you stay signed in, and how to log out.

You sign in to NextQuest with your Twitch account. There is no separate password and no other login method.

How to sign in

Select Log in in the header, then Sign in with Twitch. Twitch shows its own permission screen. Approve it and you return to NextQuest.

  • If you started from a board button such as Log in to suggest a game, you return to that page.
  • If you started from the header, you land on /dashboard. NextQuest redirects accounts that are not part of the closed beta from there to the /beta page. Open the board you wanted from the home page or search. See Closed beta.

The first time you sign in, NextQuest creates your account and a public board for you. It stores your Twitch display name, avatar URL, and Twitch user ID. For the full privacy statement, read the Privacy page.

What NextQuest can see on Twitch

The login page lists what Twitch will let NextQuest see under What Twitch will let us see. The permissions are read-only. NextQuest does not change anything on your Twitch account.

Twitch permission What NextQuest uses it for
Channels you follow (user:read:follows) Checks whether you follow a streamer.
Channels you subscribe to (user:read:subscriptions) Checks whether you subscribe to a streamer.
Channels you moderate (user:read:moderated_channels) Requested at sign-in. Nothing uses it yet.

Why follower and subscriber checks matter

A streamer can limit who may suggest or vote to followers only or subs only. They can also give followers and subscribers more suggestion slots than other viewers. NextQuest checks your status with Twitch each time it needs it, using your own token. It does not keep a saved copy of the answer.

If the check fails, NextQuest treats you as a plain viewer for that request. Common causes are an expired Twitch login or a Twitch outage. If a board says it is for followers or subs and you qualify, log out and sign in again. See Audience and permissions.

How long you stay signed in

Your session lasts 14 days and renews as you use the site. NextQuest signs you out if you do not visit for 14 days.

Logging out

Select your avatar, then Log out. This signs you out on every browser and device, not only the one you are using. It also signs out anyone holding an older session cookie.

Logging out also removes push notifications for the browser you used, if you turned them on there. See Notifications.

Light and dark theme

Open Quick settings in the header. Under Theme, choose Light or Dark. Light is the default.

The choice is saved in the browser you are using, not on your account. Each browser or device keeps its own setting. Quick settings also has a Sounds switch and a Volume slider.
