Voting

How up and down votes work on a board, who can vote, and why some cards have no vote buttons.

Voting tells a streamer which games on their board you want to see. You get one vote per game on each board. You vote with the thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons on a game card.

How votes work

  • Select the thumbs-up button to vote up. Select the thumbs-down button to vote down.
  • Select the same button again to take your vote back.
  • Select the other button to switch your vote.

The number between the buttons is the net total: ups minus downs. It shows as +3, -2, or 0. Only this total is public. NextQuest does not show how many up votes and down votes make it up, and it does not show who voted.

Votes belong to one board. If the same game sits on two boards, you vote on each one separately.

Within a section, games are listed with the highest net total first.

Which cards have vote buttons

Only sections with voting turned on show vote buttons. The streamer decides this for each section. A section with voting off shows the games without buttons or totals.

Vote buttons can also be missing or greyed out:

If NextQuest refuses a vote, it shows the reason next to the buttons.

Message What it means
Only followers can vote on this queue. The streamer limits voting to followers.
Only subs can vote on this queue. The streamer limits voting to subscribers.
Voting is disabled for this column. The streamer turned voting off for this section after you opened the page. Reload the board.
That game's been removed from the catalogue. Your votes on it stay, but you can't add new ones. The game became unavailable.
Game not found. The streamer removed the game after you opened the page. Reload the board.
Easy there. You're voting too quick. Chill for a moment and keep voting. You hit the rate limit of 20 votes per minute. Wait a moment.

Unavailable games

A card marked Unavailable has a game that no longer exists in the catalogue. The card stays on the board with its title and net total. You cannot open its page and you cannot vote on it. Votes already cast on it still count. See Game and company pages › Why a game is missing.

Accepted suggestions

When a streamer accepts a suggestion, the game lands on the board and everyone who suggested it gets an automatic up vote. You can take it back by selecting the thumbs-up button again, or switch it to a down vote. See Suggesting a game › When a suggestion is accepted.

Limits

  • 20 votes per minute.
  • One vote per game on each board.
