Sign in with Twitch
How streamers sign in to NextQuest, what Twitch permissions it asks for, and what you get on your first sign-in.
You sign in to NextQuest with your Twitch account. There is no separate password and no email address to enter. Twitch is the only sign-in method.
Note
NextQuest is in closed beta. Anyone can sign in, vote and suggest, but only invited streamers can open the dashboard. If you are not on the list, the dashboard sends you to the beta page. See Closed beta and pricing.
- Select Log in in the page header.
- Select Sign in with Twitch.
- Approve the permissions on the Twitch screen.
NextQuest then takes you to your dashboard. If you were on another NextQuest page when you started, you return to that page instead.
Your NextQuest name and avatar come from your Twitch account. They update every time you sign in.
What NextQuest asks Twitch for
NextQuest asks for three read-only permissions. It never changes anything on your Twitch account.
| Permission | What NextQuest uses it for |
|---|---|
| Channels you follow | Checks whether a viewer follows a streamer, so streamers can limit who suggests or votes. |
| Channels you subscribe to | Checks whether a viewer subscribes to a streamer, for the same limits. |
| Your moderator channels | Requested at sign-in. NextQuest does not use it for anything yet. |
These checks run when you act on someone else's board. When you are the streamer, you always pass your own limits. See Audience permissions for how followers and subscribers are checked.
Your starter board
The first time you sign in, NextQuest creates one board for you if you have none. It is called Stream Queue and it is ready to use:
| Lane | Section | Viewers can vote | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Backlog (intake) | Yes | Not set |
| 2 | Playing | No | Not set |
| 3 | Finished | No | Positive |
| 3 | Dropped | No | Negative |
Playing is the now playing section. Finished and Dropped share lane 3 and are stacked. The board is your active board, so it is public right away at /user/ followed by your Twitch name. Rename it, add sections or change anything else in Boards, lanes and sections.
Signing in again never creates a second starter board.
Staying signed in
Your session lasts 14 days and renews while you keep using NextQuest. It lives in one cookie in your browser.
Log out
Open the account menu in the header and select Log out.
Logging out does three things:
- It ends your session in this browser.
- It ends your sessions on every other device too. Anyone holding an older copy of your session cookie is also signed out.
- It removes this browser from your push notification devices. Your other devices keep their push settings. See Notifications and push.
To remove NextQuest's access to your Twitch account, revoke the app in your Twitch connection settings.
