Your public board
Where your public board lives, what viewers see on it, and how to set the intro text and the number of games shown per section.
Your public board is the page viewers open to see your backlog, vote and suggest games. It is your active board, shown at one address that you can put in your Twitch panels and chat.
Note
Viewing, voting and suggesting are open to everyone during the closed beta. Managing the board is limited to invited streamers. See Closed beta and pricing.
Your address
Your board lives at /user/ followed by your Twitch name, for example nextquest.app/user/WaldoAndFriends. Capital letters do not matter.
You find the address on the dashboard home page under Public board URL:
- Copy copies the full link. The button reads Copied! for two seconds.
- Open opens your board in a new tab.
The address only works while you have an active board. If a viewer opens it without one, they see "Board is private or inactive".
Multiple boards
Only your active board has a page at your address. See Boards, lanes and sections › The active board for how to switch.
Your other boards are private. They have no page of their own, and viewers cannot suggest to them. A board goes public when you make it active.
What viewers see
From top to bottom, the page shows:
- Your avatar and Twitch name.
- A Live badge when you are streaming on Twitch. The badge links to your channel. NextQuest checks it on a best-effort basis, so the badge can be missing for a short while.
- Your intro text, if you wrote one.
- The board name, with "Open for suggestions" next to it when the board has an intake section.
- A Suggest a game button.
- Your lanes, left to right, with sections stacked in each lane.
Each section shows its name and how many games it holds. Games inside a section are ordered by net votes, highest first. A card shows the cover, title, release year, genres and a type label for games that are not the main release, such as an expansion.
In sections with voting on, each card has vote buttons. Viewers who are not signed in, or who are not allowed to vote, see the buttons disabled. See Audience permissions.
An empty section reads "Nothing here yet" and "Streamer's still picking."
Warning
The public page currently lists every section, including ones marked Hidden with Show on your queue off. See Boards, lanes and sections › Sections.
Games whose catalogue entry is gone appear greyed out with an Unavailable marker. They keep their vote count, but viewers cannot open or vote on them.
The suggest button
The label changes with the viewer:
| Viewer | Button |
|---|---|
| Not signed in | Log in to suggest a game |
| Allowed to suggest | Suggest a game |
| Not allowed, for example over their limit | Suggest a game, disabled, with the reason as a tooltip |
You do not see these buttons on your own board.
Intro text
The intro text appears under your name. Use it to greet viewers or say what you want suggested.
- Open Settings in the dashboard.
- Scroll to Public board.
- Type in Intro text.
- Select Save.
The limits:
- Up to 1000 characters. Longer text is cut off at 1000.
- Plain text only. Line breaks are kept.
- Empty text hides the intro.
Games per section
Games per section sets how many games each section shows before a Show n more link. Select the link to expand the rest, and Show less to collapse them.
- Allowed values: 1 to 100.
- Default: 10.
- It applies to every section on the board.
Both options sit on the Settings page, which needs an active board. If you have none, the page asks you to create one first.
Traffic limits
NextQuest slows down anyone who opens more than 60 streamer pages in a minute. Normal viewers do not reach this limit.
